How to Create, Brand, and Share a Training Video with Shootsta Cast & Shootsta Pro

Creating an effective training video requires planning, recording, editing, and sharing it in a way that engages your audience. Follow these steps to create a polished and professional video using Shootsta Cast and Shootsta Pro, and ensure it's effectively presented in your LMS or Help Center.


 

Step 1: Plan Your Training Video 

Shootsta's Video Plan could be a great template to build from. Before recording, take time to structure your content to ensure clarity and engagement.

1. Define Your Objective

  • What is the key takeaway for your audience?
  • Who is this video for, and what problem does it solve?
  • Keep it bite-sized (2 minutes or less per clip) for better engagement.

2. Create a Video Plan 

  • Break your content into bite-sized videos (2 minutes or less) to keep engagement high.
  • Each video should cover one key topic or concept.
  • Outline the flow of the video:
    • Introduction (Briefly introduce the topic)
    • Main Content (Explain with visuals or demonstrations)
    • Conclusion (Summarize key takeaways or next steps. It is important to hint at the next training module or section)

3. Write a Simple Script on your Shootsta Video Plan

  • Outline key points instead of writing a full speech.
  • Keep your language clear and conversational.
  • Practice with energy—your delivery matters!


Step 2: Record Your Video with Shootsta Cast

  1. Set Up Your Recording- 

    • Open Shootsta Cast and choose to record:
      • Screen only
      • Webcam only- Camera Only
      • Both screen and webcam- All
    • Ensure good lighting if you are recording your webcam
    • Limit any background noise.
    • Use a separate microphone or one attached to your earphones to capture the best audio.

  1. Start Recording

    • Follow your script outline and speak naturally.
    • Use your cursor to highlight key points if showing a screen recording.
    • Keep your video short—stick to 2 minutes or less per clip.
  2. Stop and Save Your Video

    • Click Stop Recording when done.
    • Review the video, re-record if you don't feel you have made your point clearly.

Step 3: Brand & Edit with Shootsta Pro

  1. Upload Your Recording to a Shootsta Pro Project

    • Create a Pro Project
    • Select 'Video' for the video type.
    • Upload your Briefing document
    • Upload your Casts to the upload assets section. 
  1. Enhance with Branding 

    • Select your Brand Suite to add your company logo, branding colors, and fonts.
    • Your Brand Suite Includes on-screen text to reinforce key points. 
  2. Visually Build your Training Video  (optional if your Briefing document provides the information 

    • Place your Cast clips in scenes in the Visual Builder, and match your script against each scene. 
    • Use comments to give us a reference for what you are trying to achieve or to point things you want done during editing. 
    • Use callouts or graphics to improve engagement.
    • This Visual Build of your Video is basically the in-platform representation of your briefing document. 
  3. Approve and Download the Finalised Video

    • Once edited and approved, download the final, high res MP4 file


Step 4: Share Your Training Video

Option 1: Upload to Your Learning Management System (LMS)

  • Create a new training module or lesson.
  • Upload the final video file or embed a link.
  • Supplement the video with written instructions, summaries, or key takeaways.
  • Publish and track learner engagement within the LMS.

Option 2: Add to a Help Article

  • Open your Help Center or Knowledge Base.
  • Create a new article and insert the video by:
    • Uploading it directly
    • Embedding it from a video hosting platform
  • Publish and share the article.
