How to Review your Storyboard

The storyboard serves as a blueprint for your animation, making it easier to refine before finalizing the animation. You can review, request changes, or approve it scene-by-scene in Shootsta

If you've just hit "send" on your Animation project, get ready for the first act: the storyboard! Think of it as your animation's blueprint—a delightful collection of simplified still illustrations crafted by our Animation Team to sketch out what your final masterpiece will look like.

Why are storyboards such a big deal, you ask? Well, it’s much easier to tweak a storyboard than to redo an entire animation, so nailing down your vision and gathering feedback from your stakeholders during this stage is absolutely vital. This way, your animation will dazzle and impress in record time, making it the star of the show!

Requesting Changes to your Storyboard

Your storyboard is presented to you scene-by-scene. Each scene is accompanied by a section of your script, along with a description of what movement or action will take place in that scene.

You can make feedback on your storyboard by clicking on the scene where you'd like to make a change request. This will expand the scene so you can take a closer look at its details. From here you can leave comments on the scene by clicking on the scene itself wherever each comment is most relevant. E.g. If you'd like a certain piece of text in your scene scaled down, you can click on the text to leave a comment so it's clearer that it's the text you're referring to.

From this expanded scene view you can go back out to the overall storyboard view by pressing the Back button below the scene, or you can navigate backwards and forwards through scenes via the Previous Scene and Next Scene buttons.

Once you've left all your change requests, simply navigate back to the overall storyboard and click the Submit Changes button at the bottom of the page to send it back to our Production Team for amendments.

Approving your Storyboard for Animation

If the storyboard has tickled your fancy and you’re ready to roll, just give that Approve Version button at the bottom of the storyboard Review page a satisfying click! The Animation Team will spring into action, bringing your project to life based on the dazzling latest version of the storyboard.

Requesting Changes to your Script

Just a friendly heads-up: the script for your animation is on a strict no-edit diet from the Storyboard Review page! Why, you ask? Well, the quote for any voiceover magic you need is based on the original script you submitted with your project. So, if you’ve got a script tweak that’s itching to get out, don’t hesitate to give your Production Team Lead a shout!
